In 1 BBY it was assigned to orbital patrol over Danuta with his wing. When Moldy Crow approached, the two TIEs flanked it and the X-Ray pilot requested identity and business, his monotonous voice suggesting he had repeated the request countless of times. The freighter pilot introduced himself as "Dan Drexel" and said that he was coming from Drog VI bringing spares for Brodsport Mining Corporation; he added that the TIE pilot should tell Rel Farley that he will buy the first round of beers once he lands. After some time, presumably checking with Brodsport or Farley (or just keeping some silence to give the impression he was doing so), X-Ray gave clearance and sent approach vectors for the Trid spaceport to the freighter, with a stern warning to stay within them.
A couple of local days later, the customs agent notified the authorities that the "Drexel" character who came on that ship was defector Kyle Katarn, who had become a Rebel mercenary; right that time his accomplice, Jan Ors, was taking the Crow to meet him at the Danuta research facility. It fired at the guards and the parked TIEs for an unauthorised lift-off when X-Ray showed up. The pilot ordered the Crow to reverse and power down, shooting at it and diminishing the freighter's shields. He boasted that the TIE can make circles around the junk, but Ors used its belly cannon, and shot down the TIE.
