Xodlak'uvi'vil

Biography

Lakuviv served as the Xodlak family Councilor for Redhill province of Celwis. While serving there, he was approached by a Chiss midager Coduyo'po'nekri (Yoponek), who was accompanied by three Agbui, Haplif, Shimkif and Frosif. The Agbui claimed to be "cultural nomads" hoping to learn about the culture of the Chiss and asked Lakuviv for a plot of land from which they could grow their spices. Haplif gave Lakuviv a sample of the spices and a pair of metal brooches, and the Councilor sent his Senior Aide, Xodlak'ji'iprip (Lakjiip) to submit the spices and the brooches to be tested at the Vlidan Labs. Lakuviv and Lakjiip were able to find a piece of land, owned by Xodlak yubal rancher Xodlak'phr'ooa (Lakphro), to give to the Agbui.

A couple of weeks later, Lakuviv would be made aware of the results from Vlidan Labs concerning the metal brooches. Some of its strands were composed of pure nyix metal, the rarest metal known to the Chaos. Lakjiip informs Lakuviv that the Agbui want to sell the brooches to the Chiss for a thousand times less than they are actually worth, and Lakuviv wonders where in the Chaos such a source of nyix exists where it was used in jewelry and sold for such absurdly low prices. Lakuviv instructed Lakjiip to block any attempt to put these brooches on the Celwis market and to invite Haplif for a discussion, hoping that the Xodlak family will greatly benefit from having access to such a source of nyix. A week later, another Agbui ship would arrive at Celwis, and Lakjiip would invite Haplif to Redhill to talk to the newly arrived Agbui and with Lakuviv. Haplif would point out that there was battle damage on the Agbui ship, stating that they were probably attacked by pirates. Lakuviv asked Haplif where the ship would be traveling to next, and Haplif would reveal that they were probably going to their mining world. Haplif would reveal that the world was unclaimed and that it was particularly rich in blue spirea. Lakuviv, recognizing "blue spirea" as nyix, and wanting to claim the world for the Xodlak family, proposed that he would provide an escort ship for the Agbui's travel to the planet. Haplif would accept this proposal, and Lakuviv would ask if the journey was going to be via jump-by-jump. Haplif informed Lakuviv that the Agbui used navigators and offered Lakuviv the service of the other Agbui ship's Pathfinder navigator, Qilori. [1]

Lakuviv dispatched Lakjiip to accompany this escort mission. Upon Lakjip's return and confirmation of what she saw, Lakuviv and Lakjip plotted to claim the planet, now named Hoxim, for the Xodlak family. The pair believed that acquiring Hoxim would enhance the Xodlak's status enough to allow it to rejoin the Nine Ruling Families. In another meeting with Haplif, Lakuviv would ensure that the Xodlak would send defense ships to Hoxim to protect the Agbui freighters. Lakuviv and Lakjiip wanted to take this matter directly to the Xodlak Patriarch instead of the Celwis Xodlak Patriel Xodlak'oo'nifis (Lakooni), who they distrusted. However, Lakuviv was eventually denied by the Patriarch's third aide, who told him to contact his patriel. Reluctantly, Lakuviv called Lakooni, who eventually agreed to meet with him at Redhill to discuss the matter. Before she arrived, Lakuviv informed Haplif and Yoponek of the development, stating that once he and Lakooni took the matter to the Patriarch, Xodlak reservists would probably be called upon to staff the Xodlak defense ships. Yoponek, believing this to be inefficient, suggested that Lakuviv make use of the Chiss family emergency protocols. Lakuviv was confused, and Yoponek explained that Chiss families have the right to call upon any active-duty Defense Force or Expansionary Defense Fleet officers to staff the family fleet during a family emergency. Yoponek also explained that a Patriarch was not needed for a family emergency declaration, only a Patriel. Lakuviv, convinced of this solution, thanked Yoponek for the suggestion and sent him and Haplif back to Lakphro's ranch.

Soon thereafter, Lakuviv would meet and present the situation with Lakooni. However, instead of accepting the proposal to send Xodlak defense ships to Hoxim, Lakooni expressed her belief that the Agbui were tricking Lakuviv. After some more discussion, Lakuviv told Lakooni that the Coduyo Patriarch was preparing to confiscate the Celwis Xodlak warships for his own family emergency concerning the nyix mines. Outraged at this statement, Lakooni demanded to use Lakuviv's comm to secure her warships. Lakuviv expected this response, tapped into Lakooni's transmission, and made a recording of the rolling authorization codes used at the beginnings and endings of her directives. Lakuviv then revealed to Lakooni that he used these authorization codes to initiate a Xodlak family emergency. When Lakooni threatens to countermand his family emergency summons, Lakuviv takes out a charric, points it at her, and takes her hostage. When Lakooni threatens that Lakuviv will lose everything, the Councilor states his confidence that the Patriarch will thank him.

When the Xodlak officers convene on the Xodlak ships Midsummer and Apogee and prepare to depart for Hoxim, Lakuviv gives a final message of instruction and encouragement. He instructs the Xodlak commanders to not accept any transmission that doesn't derive from his office with his protocol code.

Arriving at Hoxim, the Task Force Xodlak was met with a fleet from the fellow Great Family the Pommrio family and another fleet from the Great Erighal family. The families were each allied with a Ruling Family that rivaled the other two Great Families' allied Ruling Family.

Everything the Agbui had presented to Lakuviv was a fabrication. The nyix did not come from Hoxim, but, rather, it came from another world, Sunrise, which was absolutely devastated by a civil war fomented by the Agbui. The Agbui wished to manipulate Chiss families into opening hostilities on one another in a fight over a fake nyix mine. However, Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo (Thrawn) and Mid Captain Csap'ro'strob (Apros) learned of the Agbui plot and successfully prevented hostilities from breaking out between the three manipulated Chiss families.

When Lakooni broke free from her hostage situation, she demoted Lakuviv of his position as Councilor and presumably took disciplinary action against him and Lakjiip.

Personality and traits

Lakuviv was highly ambitious and sought to increase his standing both within the Xodlak family and the Ascendancy on the whole. He was willing to threaten Patriel Xodlak'oo'nifis at charric-point to try to seize control of a planet rich in the rare and valuable metal nyix.
