A group of soldiers, known as a squad, was part of the Galactic Empire's military. They were under the command of Captain A'Shar Farless and stationed at the Imperial security complex located on the planet Scarif. This squad was made up of various personnel, including stormtroopers, coastal defender stormtroopers, Imperial officers, and Imperial ground crewmen. Governor Wilhuff Tarkin chose Farless to lead the squad because Tarkin was impressed by Farless's talent for motivating his soldiers. Upon meeting his new team, Captain Farless delivered a motivational address, emphasizing the importance of unity in combat.
