The A-LT Utility Droid was a type of droid characterized by a domed head and treaded wheels. While originally intended to be astromech droids, A-LT units frequently underwent modifications to perform simpler jobs. A common alteration involved removing their domes, which, while exposing their head's internal mechanisms, enabled them to carry food and beverages on a serving tray. PA-LT4 was one of these modified droids that served customers on First Light, the yacht of Dryden Vos. During the time of the Galactic Civil War, both the forces of the Galactic Empire and the Alliance to Restore the Republic made use of altered A-LT droids to circumvent barriers and overload the electronic systems of enemy defense turrets during combat.
The dome component of the A-LT droid was interchangeable with the body of an R-series astromech droid.
