"A Life Immortal" is a brief narrative featured within Dark Legends. Penned by George Mann with illustrations by Grant Griffin, it saw publication on July 28, 2020. The story recounts the quest of Darth Noctyss in her pursuit of immortality.
Darth Noctyss, a formidable Sith capable of dominating the entire galaxy, instead became consumed by a different ambition: the attainment of eternal life. Her quest led her to unearth ancient lore and artifacts, ultimately guiding her to the Sith planet of Exegol. She spent several months delving into the ancient ruins and eventually discovered a transformed, savage man-like beast in the depths. This creature possessed knowledge of her desires and escorted her further into the citadel, eventually arriving at a chamber. Within this chamber were the chronicles of Darth Sanguis, who had successfully achieved the immortality Noctyss sought so desperately.
Noctyss set up the ritual, the creature serving as a crucial element. As the chamber surged with power, she drove her dagger into the creature's heart. She felt renewed as her body began to transform, vital energy flowing into her. However, her joy turned to agony as her body spasmed and her spine contorted, causing her to question her actions. Noctyss later regained consciousness and, upon seeing the lifeless creature with a sinister smile on its face, understood the truth. She had replicated the path of Darth Sanguis and now mirrored his fate: a disfigured, repulsive reflection of her former self, doomed to endure a miserable, solitary existence within the depths of Exegol.
