Abel Gustavo Lopez Peña IV is a writer who has contributed reference works and articles to various Star Wars publications, including Star Wars Insider, the Official Star Wars Website, the Star Wars Roleplaying Game, Star Wars Gamer, The Official Star Wars Fact File, and Vader: The Ultimate Guide. Furthermore, he translates rare Star Wars comics from Spanish and Italian. Noted for incorporating obscure and out-of-print Star Wars sources into his writings, Peña actively engages with the fan base, posting under the usernames "Halagad" and "Halagad_Ventor" on the StarWars.com blogs and the Jedi Council Forums, respectively.
This fascination with the lesser-known West End Games character Halagad Ventor led to Peña's secondary involvement in Star Wars as a model. Back in 2005, artist Joe Corroney utilized Peña's likeness as the basis for his depiction of Ventor in Insider 84's HoloNet News section.
