Joe Corroney

Joe Corroney is an artist who has been creating official Star Wars illustrations for Lucasfilm Ltd. for various media such as books, games, magazines, and trading cards since 1996. Furthermore, he provided his penciling skills to Star Wars: Empire published by Dark Horse Comics.

His portfolio includes work on other comic books such as Marvel Comics' Crimson Dynamo, DC Comics' Green Lantern, Image's Parts Unknown, and Blue Line Pro's Blood and Roses. In addition to developing his own comic series, Death Avenger, Corroney recently contributed illustrations to Spike Vs. Dracula for IDW Publishing. At present, he is actively producing fresh Star Wars artwork for Lucasfilm and Star Wars Insider.

The Star Wars characters Kai Justiss and Ur-Sema Du were created by Corroney, drawing inspiration from his fellow artists Justin Chung and Jan Duursema, respectively.

Later, Corroney provided the illustrations for Star Wars Propaganda: A History of Persuasive Art in the Galaxy and Star Wars: The Rebel Files, which were released in 2016 and 2017, respectively.

In 2019, Ansel Hsiao, a 3D artist recognized for his involvement in The Essential Guide to Warfare, voiced concerns that Joe Corroney had reused some artworks featured on his website in the 2014 reference book Star Wars: Imperial Handbook: A Commander's Guide without obtaining prior authorization.
