Jan Duursema is a comic book artist whose work includes numerous Star Wars comics. She has also written stories, often in collaboration with John Ostrander. Duursema and Ostrander collaborated on many issues of Star Wars: Republic and furthered their partnership on Star Wars: Legacy.
The character Ur-Sema Du was inspired by Jan Duursema. She is also the co-creator of several popular characters, including Denin and Vila from Star Wars (1977) 92, the Twi'lek Jedi Aayla Secura and her Kiffar Jedi Master Quinlan Vos from the Republic series, and Cade Skywalker and Darth Talon from the Legacy series. She sometimes received co-writing credit for the Legacy series as well.
