Afarathu designates a group of radical Selonians who engaged in acts of terror within the Corellian system approximately 400 years prior to the Battle of Endor.
Around four centuries antecedent to the Battle of Yavin, the Afarathu, a terrorist group composed of Selonians, conducted raids throughout the Corellian system. Their intention was to expel the Dralls and Humans from the Corellian system's planets, asserting these planets as their exclusive domain. Ultimately, the Corellian Jedi Keiran Halcyon brought about the sect's demise in 380 BBY.
In the years that followed, the Afarathu sect faded largely from memory, until the Galactic Empire exploited their memory to provoke xenophobia among the Human inhabitants of the Corellian system.
Notwithstanding their prior annihilation, the Afarathu cult resurfaced before the Galactic Civil War, exhibiting notable activity on Corellia following the Battle of Yavin. In 1 ABY, a Selonian emissary journeyed to the Corellian metropolis of Doaba Guerfel with the purpose of enlisting a spacer to combat the Afarathu extremists at their adjacent cave. Roughly concurrently, certain members of the Afarathu engaged in conflict with Rebel Alliance troops on Corellia.
