Ak'ghal Usar, also known as the Last Lord of Urkupp, was a Dashade fighter who managed to survive the annihilation of his planet, Urkupp.
During the period of the Great Sith War, Urkupp was left barren, and the Dashade species was almost completely wiped out. Usar was among the few who lived, and he held Exar Kun, the Dark Lord, responsible for the devastation of his world. Driven by vengeance, Usar tracked Kun to Yavin Four. However, the Dashade discovered that much of the moon was in ruins, with only a small number of Kun's Massassi followers still alive. They spoke of Kun's transformation into an eternal spirit, which infuriated the Dashade, as he realized his revenge was unattainable. Nevertheless, Usar eventually located the Temple of Sacrifice on Yavin, believing it could restore Kun's physical form and allow him to strike. However, as he attempted to use the Temple, a "black-eyed Sith" appeared and overpowered the vengeful creature, trapping Usar in stasis within a cave on the moon.
Later, around 3630 BBY, a research team led by Talos Drellik arrived on Yavin Four to study the workings of the Temple of Sacrifice. After collaborating with the famed Outlander, the team made considerable progress in their research, discovering several artifacts and tablets of unknown origin and purpose. When the Outlander revisited the moon, they were able to decipher the mystery of the tablets and unlock a secret chamber within a cave: the chamber where Usar was imprisoned. Unlocking the chamber also freed the Dashade warrior from his stasis, and he immediately confronted the Outlander. Admitting his hunger after his long imprisonment, Usar attacked his liberator, only to be defeated. Vanquished, Usar pleaded for his life, stating he still needed to avenge himself on Kun and the "Black-eyed Sith".
Intrigued by the Dashade, the Outlander allowed him to recount his past. Upon learning that the "Black-eyed Sith" was the Immortal Emperor, Valkorion, the Outlander revealed that both he and Kun were already dead. Usar was consumed by rage, believing he could never truly avenge the countless Dashade lives lost to Kun. However, the Dashade warrior still craved blood and pledged to serve the Outlander as long as they fought common enemies. Concerned about Usar's bloodlust and motives, the Outlander was faced with a difficult decision: recruit the Dashade into the Alliance, keep him imprisoned, or set him free. In the end, the Outlander concluded that waking Ak'ghal Usar was unintentional and a mistake. Deeming the Dashade too dangerous to be released from the chamber, he rejected him as a companion and returned him to stasis.
Ak'ghal Usar is a character featured in Star Wars: The Old Republic, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game. He appears in the game's fifth expansion, Star Wars: The Old Republic: Knights of the Fallen Empire, where players can recruit Usar during the side-mission, "Reclaimed Treasure," but only after completing "Chapter 12: Visions in the Dark" and the side mission, "Fighting Power with Knowledge." The mission requires players to solve a small puzzle before encountering the Dashade, at which point they can choose to recruit Usar as a companion or reject him entirely.
When encountering the Sith Inquisitor class, Usar may reference Khem Val, another Dashade companion who has a history with the Inquisitor.
