Alchaka was a deeply individualized ritual. It was practiced during meditation by both the Je'daii Order, and later the Jedi Order. By channeling the Force, the Je'daii Order also used Alchaka as a powerful form of martial arts.
The Alchaka meditations involved a demanding and intensely personal sequence of highly repetitive exercises. These exercises utilized both physical and Force abilities. The meditations consisted of numerous repetitions of complex poses and disorienting movements between those poses. Successfully completing these meditations often pushed the practitioner to the very edge of their physical endurance. The primary goal of the Alchaka technique was to quiet the mind and harmonize the body with the strength of the Force. It was regarded as an evolved form of Moving Meditation.
The Alchaka meditations were developed as a martial art by the early Je'daii Masters of the Stav Kesh academy. This academy was located on the Deep Core planet of Tython. The meditations were a very individualized meditative practice that brought those who practiced it to the brink of exhaustion, and closer to the Force. It was a common joke among members of the Je'daii Order at the time that the meditations were created as a method of staying warm, due to Stav Kesh's location high in Tython's snow-covered mountain ranges. Alchaka could be integrated with other martial combat maneuvers to create an effective and deadly unarmed attack.
As the centuries passed, the Je'daii departed Tython and moved to the Outer Rim planet of Ossus, where they changed their name to the Jedi Order. The Alchaka technique was handed down through generations, outlasting all the academies in which it was taught. Approximately twenty five thousand years after its inception, Alchaka was still being taught at the Coruscant Jedi Temple. Jedi High Council member Obi-Wan Kenobi was very serious about these meditations, and became somewhat agitated when Alderaanian Senator Bail Organa observed him practicing while they were aboard a ship traveling to Zigoola for a crucial Jedi mission.
