The Alderaanian Diplomatic Corps was a diplomatic organization originating from the planet of Alderaan. Before the royal house of Alderaan dispatched the Tantive IV—a CR90 corvette—on a mission to Tatooine in 0 BBY, the corps assigned the protocol droid U-3PO to the corvette's droid complement. Unbeknownst to them, U-3PO had been secretly modified by Imperial operatives, functioning as a sleeper agent aboard the ship.
Within current Star Wars canon, a reference to the Alderaanian Diplomatic Corps can be found in "The Rise of the Rebellion and the Battle of Yavin." This book was released on March 9, 2021 by De Agostini as part of the Star Wars Encyclopedia series. The corps initially appeared in the Star Wars Legends continuity, specifically on a card within the Star Wars Customizable Card Game's 1995 A New Hope Limited set.
