The Alliance Cold Weather armor was a type of insulated armor utilized by Rebel Alliance forces during the Galactic Civil War when operating in extremely cold climates. This outfit offered protection to Rebel soldiers from the frigid conditions of Hoth during the Battle of Hoth.
The Alliance Cold Weather armor was a lightly colored padded armor specifically engineered to withstand extremely low temperatures. While it provided significant defense against energy weapons, such as blasters, it offered less protection against kinetic impacts. A complete set of this armor included headgear with a face mask, anti-glare goggles, and a scarf, along with a padded vest, bicep padding, forearm bracers, dark-colored gloves, a belt, dark-colored leggings, boots, and a backpack. A jacket was worn over a padded or light long-sleeved tunic. Personnel stationed inside the base typically wore a vest featuring a high, padded collar, whereas those on exterior duty on Hoth wore a smaller, thicker vest without a collar that was worn over their jacket. Rank insignia could be displayed on either vest. The backpack contained items like a small heater and survival supplies to protect the wearer from hypothermia.
The Alliance Cold Weather armor served as the standard gear for Rebel troopers stationed on icy planets, including Hoth, Rhen Var, Alzoc III, Ilum, and Polus during the Galactic Civil War. Specialized infantry groups like Rebel marksmen, vanguards, medics, tauntaun troopers, and the SpecForces' Wilderness Fighters also made use of this armor.
By 3 ABY, at the time of the Battle of Hoth, nearly all personnel at Echo Base, the Alliance High Command headquarters on Hoth, were equipped with the Cold Weather armor.
Years afterward, the Jedi named Jaden Korr donned similar attire during a mission to Hoth amidst the Disciples of Ragnos crisis.
