Anem

Nyemari's capital was a city called Anem, which was located on this planet. The Nyemari Royal Palace, along with the Nyemari Imperial Military Installation, could be found in this location. A team of Rebel Alliance operatives infiltrated the Royal Palace of the Duchess in 1 ABY to acquire her access codes. After escaping in an airspeeder, the Rebels were pursued by Royal guards through Anem before returning to their ship at South Anem Spaceport. Subsequently, they encountered a Glymphid messenger, whose death after delivering a hologram directed them towards the Sixela system.

Description

As the capital city on the planet of Nyemari, Anem served as the residence for the planet's leadership, who dwelled in the Nyemari Royal Palace. The Nyemari Imperial Military Installation was also situated within the city's limits. Its spaceport was known as the most modern and architecturally advanced within the Meridian sector. The urban landscape was a dense configuration of skyscrapers, forming a "forest" constructed from transparisteel and duracrete, with one particular tower reaching a height of thirty stories.

The South Anem Spaceport, essentially a sizable warehouse, was located several kilometers from the city center, in a transitional zone bordering the desert. Certain areas of Anem were neglected, exhibiting dust and scattered refuse.

History

The Royal Palace was the residence of the Duchess of Nyemari in 1 ABY. During that year, a team of Rebel Alliance personnel infiltrated the Palace with the objective of stealing the Duchess' access codes for the Nyemaril Imperial Military facility. Although the mission was successful, they were compelled to escape the Royal Palace using a stolen airspeeder. Royal guards pursued them through the city on 74-Z speeder bikes, and the Rebels resorted to blasting through buildings when navigating around them was not an option.

Ultimately, the guards were left behind, and the Rebels managed to reach the Millennium Falcon, their starship, which was concealed at the South Anem Spaceport. Upon arrival, they were informed by Li Preni, a Nyemarian mechanic, that they were being tracked. Suspecting a bounty hunter, the Rebels chased the Glymphid through Anem's alleys until they trapped him in a neglected plaza covered in dust. The Glymphid presented Luke Skywalker with a hologram from Rezi Soresh, threatening the death of 100 hostages unless Skywalker met Soresh in the Sixela system. Subsequently, the Glymphid succumbed to a delayed-release poison, prompting the Rebels to depart for their meeting with Soresh.

Behind the scenes

The city of Anem was first introduced in Rebel Force: Uprising, a book written by Alex Wheeler in 2010.
