The South Anem Spaceport, a docking facility for various starships, was situated at the edge of Anem, which served as the capital of the planet Nyemari. The Nyemarian mechanic, Li Preni, permitted Han Solo and his Millennium Falcon to dock there while Solo and his comrades embarked on a mission to the Nyemari Royal Palace on behalf of the Rebel Alliance. Upon their return, Preni initially denied sharing any information with a Glymphid, but he confessed after Chewbacca, Solo's companion, menaced him. Subsequently, the Rebels pursued the Glymphid, who revealed a hologram to Luke Skywalker before succumbing to a delayed-release poison and dying.
This Spaceport known as South Anem was a place where starships could dock. It sat some kilometers away from Anem, the capital city of Nyemari, where the urban area met the desert. In reality, the facility was essentially a sizable warehouse, and by 1 ABY, none of the equipment or structures had been maintained for thirty years. Only spacers, smugglers, and other shady characters frequented the location.
The Millennium Falcon, a smuggling vessel under the ownership of Han Solo, docked at this spaceport in 1 ABY. Solo was utilizing a favor that was owed to him by Li Preni, a Nyemarian mechanic who had been employed there for years. Solo and his companions were present on Nyemari as part of a mission for the Rebel Alliance. Their objective was to infiltrate the Nyemari Royal Palace and acquire the Duchess's access codes for the Imperial Military Installation located on the planet. The Rebels successfully obtained the codes but were forced to escape through Anem, pursued by Royal guards. After evading their pursuers, the Rebels made their way back to the Spaceport.
Upon the Rebels' return, Preni, surprised to see them again, informed them about a Glymphid who was offering a bounty for their capture. Initially, Preni claimed he was unaware of the Rebels' identity; however, Chewbacca, Solo's partner, threatened the Nyemarian with a menacing growl. Subsequently, Preni admitted to informing the Glymphid that the Rebels were in the city. Suspecting that the Glymphid was another bounty hunter, Solo persuaded his companions to locate the alien. When the Rebels confronted the alien in a plaza in Anem, the Glymphid presented a hologram intended for Luke Skywalker from Rezi Soresh. Soresh threatened to kill a shipful of hostages unless Skywalker surrendered himself to Soresh. As a demonstration, Soresh had the Glymphid eliminated using a time-released poison. Skywalker realized he had to go to Soresh's outpost, and his allies decided to accompany him.
The South Anem Spaceport is featured in Rebel Force: Uprising, a book written by Alex Wheeler and published in 2010.
