Anji was a young nexu that came into the world circa 43 ABY.
The young nexu's mother met her death at the hands of Jedi Knight Leia Organa Solo at the Coruscant Livestock Exchange and Exhibition after she launched an assault on an Ithorian. Subsequently, Anji was briefly taken in by Solo's granddaughter, Allana Solo. Following approval from Tenel Ka, Allana formally adopted the young nexu. Anji demonstrated a strong protective instinct toward Allana and seemed attuned to the emotions Allana projected through the Force. She became Allana's ever-present companion, even venturing with her into the Jedi Temple's catacombs.
Even though Anji was a "tamed" nexu, the Solos implemented safety measures. Anji's back quills were blunted, her claws were trimmed, and a specialized device was implanted in her jaw to prevent forceful biting that could draw blood. Despite these limitations, she remained dangerous enough to blind a Sith attempting to assassinate her mistress, continuing her assault until physically removed by the injured Sith. Being a nexu, her capacity to grasp commands through hand signals was exceptional, owing to her multiple eyes. Anji did not tolerate space travel well, frequently experiencing nausea.

Anji is a character featured in the expansive Fate of the Jedi series of books.
