Anomid

Anomids represented a sentient species that originated on the world of Yablari, their homeworld. Lacking the ability to speak with voices, they employed a refined and nuanced system of hand and body language for internal communication. To facilitate interactions with other species, they utilized vocoder masks that hid their faces and converted their subvocalizations into understandable spoken language. Throughout the Age of the Empire, Anomids were subjected to frequent searches due to the suspicion that their customary head coverings were being used to conceal individuals evading capture. One notable female individual, Silvanie Phest, belonged to an Anomid settlement that embraced the Disciples of the Whills cult in the time leading up to the destruction of Jedha City. Beneath the unique masks they wore, Anomids possessed wrinkled and uneven cranial features, alongside fin-shaped ears extending outward from the sides of their heads, and a pair of forward-oriented eyes lacking any discernible irises.

Behind the scenes

The first appearance of Anomids was in the 1989 Star Wars Legends role-playing game supplement entitled "Riders of the Maelstrom."
