Tamper-evident sub-space alarms functioned as indicators, alerting individuals when an item had been subjected to unauthorized interference. Maz Kanata, the Queen and Pirate, concealed the rewards amassed during her time in power within a series of twelve hidden treasure troves scattered across the galaxy, each safeguarded by a tamper-evident sub-space alarm system. These caches were situated on various planets and locations, including Iskalon, Takodana, Descopose Farmark, Graddus Rex, Seeratter, Ponemah, Adrathorpe, Lost Murvey, Pashvi, "Graceful Promising," Nantoon, and Moldour. Before and during the reign of the Galactic Empire, when Kanata started composing what would eventually be published as the Smuggler's Guide, not a single one of these alarms had been triggered.
Tamper-evident sub-space alarms were initially brought to light in Star Wars: Smuggler's Guide, a supplementary volume authored by Daniel Wallace.
