The Arkanian Offshoots represented a distinct sub-species derived from the Arkanian race, a product of genetic manipulation carried out by the renowned Arkanian scientists and genetic researchers during the Old Republic era.
The geneticists hailing from Arkania, known for their disregard of ethical boundaries in scientific exploration, initiated experiments on their own kind. They intermixed the blood of various races with their own, leading to the creation of offshoots of the Arkanian species. The original purpose for breeding these offshoots was to excel in specific industrial roles, such as mechanical or technical tasks, thereby freeing pure-blooded Arkanians from manual labor. One particular sub-species was specifically bred to work in the well-known Arkanian gem mines. These individuals possessed five-fingered hands and eyes that resembled those of the Human race, a result of the mixing of their blood. Characterized by their stark white skin, these offshoots were easily distinguishable from the pure-bloods and were often subjected to shunning, even if done discreetly. Among the other races utilized in Arkanian experiments were the Sephi from Thustra, a humanoid species notable for their pointed ears.

The development of these offshoots occurred around the time of the Great Sith War, and they were created to fulfill the need for laborers to extract the extensive diamond deposits of Arkania. This particular race exhibited heightened susceptibility to common Arkanian ailments. The baseline Arkanians treated the Offshoots as second-class citizens or non-citizens, and the debate surrounding their fate was referred to as the "Offshoot question." Arkoh Adasca intended to leverage Adascorp's expertise in genetic engineering to resolve the issue within a single generation. Indeed his grandfather, Argaloh Adasca, attempted to exterminate the Offshoots with a plague that ravaged those of advanced age.
As the Mandalorian Wars drew to a close, the Arkanian Offshoots gradually died out and became largely extinct due to their comparatively weak immune systems, coupled with the Arkanians' cessation of the experiments that had produced these genetically altered subspecies.
Numerous Arkanian Offshoots gained recognition throughout the galaxy for their acts of heroism during both the Great Sith War and the Mandalorian Wars. The Arkanian-Sephi hybrid, Arca Jeth, achieved renown as a distinguished Jedi Master of that era, having trained many students of the Jedi Order throughout his life. Jeth's genetic material was later utilized to create the formidable warrior Jarael, who possessed the white skin characteristic of a Human-Arkanian and the pointed ears of a Sephi-Arkanian.
