Arleen

The Arleen was a luxurious yacht that operated starting in 3 BBY. Its moniker matched that of the Arleen system and the Arleen Loop hyperlane. The Arleen undertook trips lasting a year from the Oseon system to the Antipose system world Antipose IX as well as the planet Antipose XII.

In 3 BBY, Lando Calrissian, a gambler and freighter captain, hired a pilot droid to assist him in piloting his starship, the light freighter Millennium Falcon, from the asteroid Oseon 2795 to the planet located in the Rafa system. Upon the freighter's arrival, the pilot droid spoke as if addressing an imaginary audience as if it was aboard Arleen, asserting that the ship was on an interstellar journey originating from Antipose IX. At that moment, Calrissian, greatly irritated by the droid, deactivated it.

Behind the scenes

The initial mention of the Arleen occurred in Lando Calrissian and the Mindharp of Sharu, the first novel, released in 1983, of The Lando Calrissian Adventures trilogy penned by L. Neil Smith. According to the Star Wars Insider magazine's 145th edition—released on October 21, 2013—Smith cannibalized the identities of his associates to generate names for the Arleen and other subjects within the book.
