The Antipose system existed within the Centrality sector of the Outer Rim Territories'. This system was home to the planets Antipose and Antipose XII, as well as the astronomical body Antipose IX. By the year 3 BBY, the luxury yacht called Arleen regularly conducted year-long voyages originating from the Oseon system and traveling to the Antipose system.
Around the time of 0 ABY, the former pirate known as Raskar rose to power as the leader of Antipose. He established a series of gladiatorial contests on the planet, with a precious power gem serving as the grand prize. During that same year, the smugglers Han Solo and Chewbacca made a trip to Antipose in their search for a power gem. Solo managed to convince Raskar to declare Chewbacca the victor of the competitions and to hand over the artifact, after which Raskar ultimately went back to a life of piracy.
Within the [Outer Rim Territories](/article/outer_rim_territories-legends], the Antipose system was situated in the Centrality sector, specifically within the Slice region. The Falko Run hyperlane served as a connection between it and both the Falko and Paulking systems. This system featured a star with the terrestrial planets Antipose and Antipose XII orbiting it, along with the celestial body Antipose IX. The celestial bodies in the Antipose system included a yellow-hued astronomical object and a large, dark blue celestial body visible from the surface of Antipose.

Following the destruction of the Pirates of Iridium in 22 BBY, Raskar, a former member of the Pirates of Iridium, abandoned his life of piracy while still in possession of a power gem. This rare artifact was made of a meteoritic mineral that had the capability to disable the deflector shields of starships. Raskar made Antipose his home, became its leader, and established a system of gladiatorial competitions with the power gem serving as the reward for the final victor. As time went on, numerous individuals sought to take part in these gladiatorial battles.
The luxury yacht Arleen, which was in operation by 3 BBY, provided year-long excursions from the Oseon system to Antipose IX and Antipose XII. Sometime between 3 BBY and 2 BBY, Lando Calrissian, a gambler and freighter captain, hired a pilot droid to assist him in piloting his starship, the light freighter known as the Millennium Falcon, from the asteroid Oseon 2795 to the planet Rafa IV in the Rafa system. Upon the freighter's arrival, the pilot droid addressed an imaginary audience as if he were aboard the Arleen, claiming—much to Calrissian's annoyance—that the ship was on an interstellar journey from Antipose IX.

In 0 ABY, Princess Leia Organa tasked the smuggler Han Solo, who by then was the owner of the Millennium Falcon, with locating and obtaining a power gem. This was to aid the Rebel Alliance in their fight against the new Star Dreadnought, the Executor, belonging to the Sith Lord Darth Vader. While at the Tharin sector shadowport Junkfort Station, an alien—secretly an agent working for Raskar—directed Solo and his copilot, Chewbacca, to Antipose, claiming to have seen a power gem there.
Solo and Chewbacca then made their way to Antipose, where Solo eventually persuaded Raskar to declare Chewbacca the ultimate champion of the gladiatorial competition. The smuggler duo then left Antipose aboard the Falcon, returning to the Alliance base located on the Gordian Reach moon Yavin 4. Raskar, on the other hand, faced financial troubles and was compelled to return to a life of interstellar piracy.

The Antipose system, named after mentions of Antipose IX and Antipose XII in earlier Star Wars material, was initially mentioned in "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, How I Wonder Where We Are," a 1990 roleplaying game article published in the thirteenth issue of Voyages SF magazine, placing it in the Seswenna sector. As this article was not released through the Lucas Licensing process, its canonicity within the Star Wars Legends continuity was never confirmed. The system's first undeniably canonical mention occurred in "A Campaign Guide to the Centrality," a Wizards of the Coast roleplaying game article written by Michael Kogge and published in the fifth issue of Star Wars Gamer magazine on July 24, 2001.
The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, released in 2008, seemingly created a contradiction by stating the Antipose system was "not far from Centrality," even though "A Campaign Guide to the Centrality" had established it as part of that sector. The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas later superseded both the Voyages SF 13 placement and the information from The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia by locating the Antipose system in grid square U-8 within the Centrality. Daniel Wallace, a co-author of The Essential Atlas, later clarified on his blog on StarWars.com that the location "Antipose" in the book also referred to the unnamed planet featured in "The Power Gem," a comic story written by Archie Goodwin, drawn by Al Williamson, and published between July 26 and October 3, 1982 as part of the daily Star Wars comic strip distributed by the Los Angeles Times Syndicate to major newspapers in the United States and Canada from 1979 to 1984. Thus, the Antipose system was retroactively established as having made its debut appearance in "The Power Gem."
