The planet Antipose, situated in the Centrality sector of the Outer Rim Territories, featured a solitary city. This city became the stage for the gladiatorial contests orchestrated by Raskar, a former pirate, with a rare power gem serving as the grand prize. This artifact was a prized possession of Raskar's. During the year 0 ABY, the Rebel Alliance tasked smugglers Han Solo and Chewbacca with acquiring a power gem, hoping to leverage its ability to disable starship deflector shields. Seeking information, the duo journeyed to the Junkfort Station shadowport, where an agent working for Raskar directed them towards Antipose.
Upon their arrival on Antipose, Solo and Chewbacca encountered a trio of fighters. Mystra, Raskar's enforcer, intervened and escorted the pair to Raskar's villa to meet the ex-pirate. Raskar showcased the power gem to the smugglers and attempted to convince Solo to participate in the competitions held in the gladiatorial arena. However, Solo initiated his own scheme to obtain the power gem.
Solo convinced Chewbacca to begin an unprompted public brawl with the arena system's top contender, a diversion that allowed Solo to infiltrate Raskar's villa unnoticed and scan the power gem. Discovering that the artifact only had enough power remaining for a single use—a crucial detail Raskar had kept secret—Solo then persuaded Raskar to declare Chewbacca the ultimate champion of the competitions, thus handing over the gem to them. The two smugglers then transported the power gem back to the Rebel Alliance base situated on the moon Yavin 4.

Antipose, a terrestrial planet, was a component of the Antipose system, which itself resided within the Centrality sector in the Slice area of the Outer Rim Territories. The hyperlane known as the Falko Run provided a connection to the Falko and Paulking systems. Antipose orbited a sun that appeared large and yellow in the skies. A sizable, dark-blue celestial object was also visible from the planet, at times obscuring the star.
Featuring both oceans and landmasses, Antipose was characterized by its hilly landscape. The planet's fauna included reptavians, and it served as a home for diverse plants, including trees, as well as substantial fungal growths displaying either red coloration with black mottling or yellow with black or red mottling.

After the Pirates of Iridium were destroyed in 22 BBY, Raskar, a member of the group, retired from piracy. He carried with him a power gem, a unique artifact made of a meteoritic mineral capable of disabling starships' deflector shields. Recognizing that utilizing the artifact to attack ships inevitably drew unwanted attention, Raskar chose to settle on Antipose, assuming leadership of the "modest" planet. He established a system of gladiatorial competitions, offering the power gem as the ultimate reward. Over time, numerous individuals sought to participate, with the former pirate accumulating arena entrance fees—from both spectators and participants—and percentages from all related betting.
In 0 ABY, Princess Leia Organa instructed the smuggler Han Solo to locate and secure a power gem to aid the Rebel Alliance in their fight against the Executor, the new Star Dreadnought of the Sith Lord Darth Vader. Solo, planning to begin his search in the galactic underworld, traveled with his copilot, Chewbacca, aboard their light freighter, the Millennium Falcon, to Junkfort Station, a shadowport in the Tharin sector. There, an alien—secretly working for Raskar—directed the pair to Antipose, claiming to have seen a power gem there.

Solo and Chewbacca journeyed to Antipose aboard the Falcon and landed the ship outside the planet's only city. Solo remarked that the world reminded him of many others they had visited during their smuggling career. As they exited the Falcon, Solo eyed an attractive alien before he and Chewbacca were confronted by a trio of individuals who, also seeking the power gem, attempted to dissuade any potential new contestants from staying on the planet.
Solo and Chewbacca subtly prepared for a lightfight, positioning themselves to create a crossfire against the three contestants. Solo maneuvered to keep Antipose's sun in his opponents' eyes. At that moment, Mystra, Raskar's enforcer, arrived on a floater, interrupting the confrontation and ordering the trio to leave the planet. Mystra then directed the two smugglers onto the floater and transported them to Antipose's city, where she briefly showed them the Antipose Arena before taking them to Raskar's villa.

At his residence, Raskar was engaged in a fencing sparring session with a Duelist Elite training droid. To entice Solo to participate in the arena's gladiatorial contest, Raskar arranged a private demonstration of the power gem, using it to shatter a force field. The former pirate then explained his reasons for offering the gem and his business model on Antipose. As the crime lord Jabba the Hutt had placed a high bounty on Solo, which Raskar was keen to collect, he offered the smuggler free participation in the gladiatorial fights for the power gem. Solo, devising a plan to obtain a power gem without fighting in the arena, agreed on the condition that his mighty Wookiee companion could fight on his behalf instead.
After Solo and Chewbacca departed the villa, Mystra briefly confronted them, unsuccessfully attempting to dissuade Solo from manipulating the gladiatorial contest system. The enforcer then continued observing the two smugglers from a distance while Solo obtained directions to the training grounds of a hulking alien gladiator who was the leading contender for the power gem. Solo then convinced Chewbacca to instigate a brawl with the gladiator at that location, violating the planetary rule against fighting outside of the arena. The Human smuggler used the distraction created by the growing crowd to slip away unnoticed. Raskar and Mystra then began searching for him on floaters, as the ex-pirate intended to punish Solo for cheating him out of his profits.
Solo infiltrated Raskar's villa, using his slicing skills to access the chamber where the power gem was stored. He also picked up Raskar's fencing sword, activating the ex-pirate's training droid, which attacked Solo. Solo maneuvered the droid into the path of the destructive energy beams protecting the power gem. Meanwhile, Raskar was alerted to Solo's break-in and the firing of the beams, leading him to believe the smuggler had been killed. By the time Raskar and Mystra arrived at the villa, Solo had used a portable scanner to determine that the artifact's shield-disabling effect was diminishing and only sufficient for one more use against a starship.

Solo confronted Raskar about his deception, persuading the ex-pirate to refrain from simply killing him to prevent the gladiatorial contestants from learning the truth. The smuggler convinced Raskar to declare Chewbacca the ultimate winner, as the Rebel Alliance only needed to use the power gem once, and the smugglers had no intention of revealing Raskar's deception. After Solo informed Chewbacca that their plan had succeeded and that he no longer needed to prolong the fight, the tired and irritated Wookiee quickly defeated his opponent. Receiving the power gem from Raskar, the pair departed Antipose aboard the Falcon, returning to the Alliance base on the Gordian Reach moon Yavin 4. Raskar, on the other hand, eventually faced financial troubles and was compelled to return to interstellar piracy.
By 0 ABY, Antipose was situated relatively far from the sphere of influence of the Galactic Empire. The sole city on Antipose was inhabited by Basic-speaking members of various species, including the planet's ruler, the Human Raskar, and the alien Mystra. To protect Raskar's income, combat within the city and its surroundings was restricted to the gladiatorial arena, with Mystra enforcing this rule and ordering lawbreakers to leave the planet.
Antipose featured a single city composed of stone structures. The largest villa in the settlement belonged to the former pirate Raskar. He also owned the Antipose Arena, a substantial gladiatorial arena located elsewhere in the city. A starship landing field was situated on the city's outskirts.
The planet where Raskar hosted gladiatorial competitions for the power gem first appeared in "The Power Gem," a comic story penned by Archie Goodwin, illustrated by Al Williamson, and published between July 26 and October 3, 1982 as part of the daily Star Wars comic strip distributed by the Los Angeles Times Syndicate to major newspapers in America and Canada from 1979 to 1984.
The planet remained unnamed until 2009, when Daniel Wallace, a co-author of The Essential Atlas, identified the planet from "The Power Gem" as "Antipose" in his blog on StarWars.com. The name "Antipose" was shared with the celestial bodies Antipose IX and Antipose XII introduced in other Star Wars sources. The Essential Atlas placed the Antipose system, and thus the planet Antipose, in grid square U-8.
