Antipose system star

A celestial body, specifically a star, was a component of the Antipose system, residing within the Centrality sector of the Outer Rim Territories. This star served as the focal point around which the inhabited planets Antipose and Antipose XII, as well as the astronomical body Antipose IX, followed their orbits. During an encounter on Antipose in 0 ABY, the smuggler known as Han Solo strategically positioned himself to leverage the light of the planet's sun against his adversaries' eyes; however, external factors intervened, preventing the conflict from fully unfolding.

Description

This star was situated within the Antipose system, which itself formed a part of the Centrality sector located in the Outer Rim Territories, specifically in the area known as the Slice. The Falko Run hyperlane provided connectivity to the Falko and Paulking systems. The terrestrial planets Antipose and Antipose XII, the latter distinguished by its violet skies and its position as the twelfth orbiting body in the system, along with the celestial object Antipose IX, revolved around this star. The Antipose system's orbiting components featured a yellow-hued astronomical entity and a celestial body that appeared large and deep blue from the vantage point of Antipose's surface. When observed from Antipose, the sun took on a yellow color and dominated the planet's sky.

History

Han Solo (rightmost) attempted to use Antipose's sun to gain a tactical advantage in a confrontation on the planet.

Sentient life had already established itself on Antipose XII by 3 BBY, while Antipose became inhabited around 0 ABY. In that year, Han Solo and Chewbacca, both smugglers, journeyed to Antipose in search of a rare power gem. Soon after exiting their light freighter, the Millennium Falcon, they were confronted by three individuals[/article/unidentified_alien_(antipose))] who sought the gem for themselves and aimed to deter potential competitors from remaining on the planet. As they subtly prepared for a lightfight, Solo and Chewbacca maneuvered to place the trio in a crossfire, with Solo ensuring that the sunlight from Antipose's sun would impair his opponents' eyes.

At that precise moment, Mystra, an associate of the former pirate Raskar and enforcer of local regulations, arrived on a floater. She intervened in the standoff, acknowledging Solo's strategy, and subsequently instructed the trio harassing Solo and Chewbacca to depart. She then directed the two smugglers onto the floater, transporting them to Antipose's city. Later, while Chewbacca engaged in an impromptu fight with the planet's leading gladiator as part of Solo's scheme to obtain the power gem, Antipose's sun, positioned directly overhead, was eclipsed by the blue astronomical object present in the star system.

Behind the scenes

The Antipose system's star made its debut in "The Power Gem," a comic narrative penned by Archie Goodwin, illustrated by Al Williamson, and published between July 26 and October 3, 1982 as part of the daily Star Wars comic strip syndicated by the Los Angeles Times Syndicate to major newspapers in America and Canada from 1979 to 1984. The The Essential Atlas reference book from 2009 situated the Antipose system, and consequently its sun, within grid square U-8.
