Raskar

Raskar, a former member of the infamous Pirates of Iridium, operated as both a smuggler and a pirate. Almost all of his ruthless pirate comrades were eliminated by the Jedi Knights just before the Clone Wars began, but Raskar survived, possessing the galaxy's only remaining power gem. This potent weapon had the capability to disrupt the shields of starships.

Biography

After the Pirates' downfall, Raskar sought refuge on the obscure Outer Rim Territories planet of Antipose, where he made a living by betting against those who coveted his gem. Within his arena, Raskar frequently matched challengers against his most formidable subordinates, such as Mystra. This venture, which involved refining his combat skills against dueling droids, proved to be quite profitable for the outlaw, until Han Solo and Chewbacca arrived to confront him. Chewbacca defeated his top fighter (Han and Chewbacca staged a fight outside the arena to distract everyone so Han could sneak into his villa). Solo then learned that the power gem only had enough power left for a single use due to long-term neglect. Consequently, Raskar was forced to surrender the power gem to Solo, especially since only Chewbacca knew the truth and was sworn to secrecy. However, Han Solo and Chewbacca only intended to temporarily take the gem, planning to rob him of his illegally obtained wealth as retribution for his actions. General Jan Dodonna's son, Vrad, would later use that very gem in a valiant but ultimately unsuccessful attempt to destroy the Executor en route to Yavin 4.

Raskar disappeared from public view until years later, when he resurfaced as a bounty hunter working for Jabba Desilijic Tiure. In an attempt to claim Jabba's reward for Solo's capture, the former pirate tracked the Millennium Falcon to the nascent Rebel base on Hoth. However, his efforts were futile, as Solo, with the assistance of his new ally, Luke Skywalker, once again outsmarted Raskar. Undeterred, Raskar pursued the pair beneath the planet's surface, driven by his desire to profit from the situation—this time, he aimed to steal the reward Han had earned for rescuing Princess Leia Organa.

As the pursuer and pursued descended into the icy depths, the discovery of lumni-spice caused Raskar to hesitate, and he issued an ultimatum: in exchange for a fair share of the lumni-spice, Raskar would abandon his pursuit of Solo. Following a brief encounter with a ferocious dragon slug, all parties agreed to the deal and escaped the planet.

Raskar later resurfaced on Ord Mantell, where he played a role in rescuing Han Solo from the grasp of Skorr.

Behind the scenes
