This brief engagement unfolded within the confines of the Feswe Corridor. Its occurrence was directly subsequent to an opening assault launched by the Alliance to Restore the Republic at Skorrupon. This initial attempt proved unsuccessful in halting the progression of the recently finished Star Dreadnought known as the Executor, as it closed in on the Rebel base situated on Yavin 4. Tasked with exploiting the shield-nullifying properties of a power gem were Alliance pilots Vrad Dodonna and Luke Skywalker. Their objective was to disrupt the Executor's shields and inflict sufficient damage to impede the Super Star Destroyer's advance. However, Dodonna, having grown cynical towards the Rebel Alliance following their initial defeat, instead plotted to undermine the mission in an effort to secure his own survival by offering information to the Empire. After abandoning Skywalker on a nearby planetoid, Dodonna experienced a change of heart, ultimately choosing to crash his craft into the Executor. This act resulted in his death, but failed to completely disable the Executor's shields, which had been reconfigured to prioritize the forward section. This shield adjustment, however, exposed the Executor's rear section, providing Han Solo and Skywalker, aboard the Millennium Falcon, with a clear line of fire. This opportunity allowed them to disable the Super Star Destroyer's gyro-control system.
The temporary disruption of the Executor provided the Rebellion with valuable time, enabling them to execute a safe evacuation of their base on Yavin 4. Despite this success, a substantial Imperial blockade, commanded by Admiral Amise Griff, awaited them.
