Official papers known as articles of secession existed. After the Raxus Address given by the former Jedi Master Dooku in 24 BBY, which served to condemn the Galactic Republic and initiate the Separatist Crisis, a considerable number of Outer Rim planets felt motivated to secede from the Republic. These planets submitted official articles of secession, consequently joining Dooku's Confederacy of Independent Systems. In one instance, not long after the commencement of the Clone Wars, Senator Esu Rotsino announced an article of secession, thereby causing the entire Abrion sector to depart and align with the Separatists.
