The Raxus Address refers to a speech delivered by Count Dooku, a former Jedi, in 24 BBY. This address is largely considered to be the catalyst that initiated the Separatist Movement. Dooku seized control of a HoloNet relay station located within the Raxus system to publicly condemn the Galactic Republic. He portrayed it as a failing institution, hopelessly corrupted and biased towards the Core Worlds. Subsequently, following this address, Dooku established the Confederacy of Independent Systems, and the resulting Separatist Crisis ultimately triggered the Clone Wars.
The Raxus Address was initially referenced, though unnamed, within the new Star Wars canon in James Luceno's 2014 novel, Tarkin, published by Del Rey. Its official identification within the canon timeline occurred later in Rise of the Separatists, a 2019 addition to Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars Roleplaying series. Originally, the Address was conceived for the Star Wars Legends continuity, initially appearing in the 2002 web article HoloNet News Vol. 531 #54 titled "Dooku Spotted in Gree Enclave". While Star Wars: Timelines placed the Raxus Address around 24 BBY, Rise of the Separatists had previously solidified its occurrence in 24 BBY specifically by situating it two years prior to the Clone Wars.
