Asogians comprised a sentient species that existed within the galaxy. During the invasion of Naboo, which occurred at a specific time, a minimum of three Asogians maintained connections with the Galactic Senate of the Republic.
The initial appearance of Asogians occurred in the 1999 movie Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. This film served as the debut installment in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Their design served as an homage to the main character from Steven Spielberg's celebrated 1982 film, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. This was done to fulfill a commitment made by George Lucas. Spielberg had featured a Yoda cameo and Star Wars merchandise, like Boba Fett figures, in E.T., leading Lucas to pledge an E.T. cameo in his next Star Wars movie, which turned out to be The Phantom Menace.
