The asteroid tug tractor beam was a substantial and potent tractor beam installed on the external structures of starships. In the year 36 ABY, a number of Victory-class Star Destroyers, such as the Admiral Ackbar, were equipped with these systems. Tendrando Arms provided these systems to the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances. These ships were classified as pirate interceptors. During the Battle of Tenupe, several ships employing these tractor beams played a role in retaking the Admiral Ackbar from Killik troops.
Lando Calrissian, the owner of Tendrando Arms, operated the Colossus I Beta Series asteroid tug called Rockhound. This vessel featured numerous tractor beam emitters, which he employed to counteract the gravitational effects of nearby black holes during the combined Jedi and Sith mission into the Maw.
