The Siege of Firevale, alternatively referred to as the Siege of Gansevor or the attack on Firevale, unfolded around 382 BBY. During this conflict, the city-state of Firevale on the planet Gansevor found itself under siege by its rival, the state of Bethune. Seeking a peaceful resolution, Jedi Masters Porter Engle and Barash Silvain journeyed to Gansevor.
Firevale, a city-state, held exclusive control over the deposits of the valuable mineral Baudraxite, essential for the energy infrastructure of their planet, Gansevor. This control bred resentment due to Firevale's lack of generosity in sharing the resource. The situation was further complicated when Sicatra, the heir to the bethunian throne, married Colden, the heir to the firevalian throne. Fearing rejection from the Bethunian people, particularly if they had children, the couple sought refuge in Firevale. However, many Bethunians perceived this as a kidnapping rather than a voluntary departure. Keraan, Colden's mother, also disapproved, yet allowed the situation to proceed. This disapproval led the couple to believe that Keraan would hinder Colden's rule, thus impeding the city's progress. Consequently, with the assistance of Tozen and the Bethune army, they initiated a siege of Firevale. Their aim was to force the Queen's abdication, enabling Colden to negotiate a pre-planned truce with Bethune, incorporating them into the Baudraxite trade. Unexpectedly, Envoy Seleen appealed to the Jedi for assistance, causing panic among the conspirators and escalating the situation beyond their control.
For several months, the Bethune army besieged Firevale, severing all communication and traffic without explanation. During this period, Seleen, the Firevalian envoy to the central government of Gansevor, requested Jedi intervention from the office of the Frontier.

Upon arriving in the capital city of Horatio, Jedi Masters Porter Engle and Barash Silvain received Seleen's account of the events. Seeking a peaceful resolution, the Jedi traveled to Firevale with a convoy carrying aid for the people of Firevale. The Bethune army attacked the convoy, compelling the Jedi to abandon their vehicles and confront the army on foot. The Jedi Masters successfully persuaded Tozen, the commander-in-chief of the Bethune army, to allow the aid convoy to enter the city. They also listened to his perspective, convincing him of their desire for a mutually beneficial peaceful solution. However, immediately after the Jedi departed, Tozen summoned the previously contracted mercenary army, concealed behind one of the system's large moons, to reinforce their position. With the mercenaries' assistance, they launched another assault on the city walls. Ultimately, General Abediah Viess betrayed Tozen, assassinating him and several of his staff to seize control and plunder the city. They initiated indiscriminate fire over the city walls, destroying civilian infrastructure and causing civilian casualties. Through the combined efforts of the Jedi Masters, Sicatra, and the Bethune army, the mercenaries' attack was repelled, forcing them to retreat off-world.
Following the cessation of hostilities, the siege concluded, provisionally ending the conflict between Firevale and Bethune.
Barash Silvain experienced profound regret, believing she had committed a grave error during the siege by trusting Sicatra's narrative, which resonated with her personal history. She felt this clouded her judgment, causing her to act based on personal feelings rather than the Force. Believing that the lives lost were unnecessarily her fault, she lost trust in herself. Consequently, she took the Barash Vow, abstaining from acting on behalf of the order and instead focusing on discerning the will of the Force.
