In the year 0 BBY, amidst the Galactic Civil War, the Rebel Alliance initiated an assault on the Galactic Empire's listening outpost situated at the Citadel on the Outer Rim planet of Rhen Var. A group of soldiers from the Alliance was dispatched, successfully overwhelming the garrison stationed at the facility. This team successfully seized the listening post, gaining the capability to monitor fleet movements. However, the Imperial Military launched a counter-attack a short time later, specifically a few days after the initial assault. This subsequent strike led to the complete annihilation of the outpost.
The Essential Atlas, authored by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, referenced this attack in 2009. A contradiction exists concerning the outpost's status. While the 2004 video game Star Wars: Battlefront depicts the Imperial forces as defending the outpost during the follow-up battle, The Essential Atlas states that the Rebels had already seized control of the outpost prior to its destruction in the Imperial assault.
