During the concluding days of Darth Angral's, the Sith Lord, campaign for vengeance against the Galactic Republic, itself a part of the Cold War between the Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire, Imperial forces launched an assault on the Republic medical frigate named Daybreaker while it was located in the Uphrades system. The planet Uphrades had suffered devastation from the Desolator superweapon, leaving the Daybreaker crippled; Angral's forces targeted the starship with the intention of eliminating any potential witnesses. However, a young Jedi Knight, accompanied by their crew aboard their Defender-class light corvette, arrived in the system and intervened to save the Daybreaker, successfully defeating the Imperial boarding party. Subsequently, the Daybreaker intentionally grounded itself on Uphrades' surface to provide assistance to the survivors of the disaster, while the Knight pursued Darth Angral and the superweapon to Tython.
In the year 3643 BBY, amid the Cold War that raged between the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic, Darth Angral, the Sith Lord, suffered a personal loss when his son Tarnis was killed.
