The vessel known as the Daybreaker started as a Thranta-class corvette but was later modified to be a Wanderer-class transport. It functioned as a medical frigate for the Galactic Republic during the Cold War era, specifically the one involving the Sith Empire. Under the leadership of Captain Dal and its chief medical officer, Doctor Senessa, the Daybreaker journeyed to the Uphrades system circa 3643 BBY to deliver crucial medical supplies. Unfortunately, upon arrival in the system, they found the Imperial warship Oppressor attacking the agriworld of Uphrades with the devastating Desolator superweapon. Darth Angral, the Sith Lord commanding the Oppressor, deployed boarding pods to eliminate the medical frigate before the Oppressor left the system. The Daybreaker's military complement was unable to repel the boarding party.
Shortly after the Oppressor's departure, a Jedi Knight and their team arrived in the system. Captain Dal's distress signal reached the Knight, who then came to the aid of the besieged frigate. With the Jedi's assistance, the crew successfully defeated the Imperial intruders. When Captain Dal refused to assist the survivors on the surface of Uphrades, Doctor Senessa took command of the Daybreaker. The ship was deliberately grounded on Uphrades so the crew could provide aid to the planet's inhabitants, sustaining them until Republic reinforcements could arrive.
