Aubin Kleej, also known by the moniker Goethar's Shame, was a male Gotal whose father was the renowned swoop-duelist Goethar Kleej.
When Aubin was a young boy, slavers operating out of The Crucible murdered his mother. Like his father before him, Aubin was compelled to undergo training to become a swoop-duelist for the Franchise. He matured on the "farm" where the duelists were trained, and because he wasn't raised among other Gotals, no one taught him how to filter out the electromagnetic signals received via their head-cones. Consequently, he faced a constant battle against madness every single day.
In the year 3963 BBY, the Franchise chose to place him in the dueling ring on Jervo's world orbiting Pantolomin. There, his father, unaware of his son's presence, attempted to reveal to the public the harsh realities of the duelists' training conditions on the "farm." Anticipating this, the company replaced his speech with a prerecorded message and threatened to return him to the farm unless he complied. Goethar was shown a holo of his son in the dueling ring, and Bardron explained that although Aubin lacked experience, the other duelists were instructed to avoid him, allowing the son of the famous Goethar Kleej to progress. Goethar agreed to cooperate and requested to be placed in the ring next to his son. However, he was assigned to the last qualifier, while Aubin was placed in the round with Zayne Carrick. Goethar then pleaded with Zayne, with a hint of threat, to ensure Aubin remained in the game and unharmed. Through sheer luck, both Zayne and Aubin successfully advanced to the tandem finals.
Later on, Carrick drew a comparison between the Gotal's inherent ability to receive electromagnetic signals and the Force, and he endeavored to teach Aubin how to filter out the unwanted signals. During the finals of the Tandem Open, Zayne Carrick aided Aubin and his father in escaping the arena using a stolen trash bin.
