Augustus Tryll, a Human male, was widely known as a slaver and a criminal during the Galactic Republic period. Once, Tryll was a passenger on a pleasure cruiser that was attacked by pirates in the Merson asteroid belt, but Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi intervened to thwart the pirates' plot. Immediately following this, Kenobi had to defend Tryll, shielding him from an irate crowd that accused him of colluding with the pirates.

Augustus Tryll, a Human male, had gained notoriety as a criminal involved in slavery, theft, and political treachery by the later years of the Galactic Republic. On one occasion, to evade arrest by law enforcement, Tryll was compelled to escape from a planet aboard a pleasure cruiser commanded by Captain Quasar and bound for Alderaan. During the voyage, Tryll met Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi, who was also a passenger on the cruiser, and attempted to enlist Kenobi's assistance in a venture that required individuals with "uncommon skills." Kenobi, fully aware of Tryll's criminal tendencies, rejected the proposition.
Shortly thereafter, Quasar's cruiser was attacked by pirates within the Merson asteroid belt, prompting Kenobi to intervene and assume control. Kenobi's actions were instrumental in repelling the pirates; however, news reached the passengers that the bridge staff suspected the attackers were tracking a signal originating from within the ship. As a notorious criminal, Tryll immediately became the target of suspicion from the agitated passengers, who made threats against him. Despite his own reservations about Tryll, Kenobi felt obligated to intervene and protect him, as the enraged mob lacked concrete evidence of his involvement. Kenobi soon came to Tryll's rescue when he discovered that a malfunctioning fermentation device in the ship's bar was emitting the signal. The Jedi destroyed the machine, eliminating the threat of further attacks.
Tryll, an audacious criminal, was sufficiently self-assured to attempt to involve Obi-Wan Kenobi, a renowned Jedi Knight, in one of his schemes. Nevertheless, Tryll's composure vanished when his fellow passengers accused him of conspiring with the Merson pirates, leading him to plead for Kenobi's assistance. Tryll possessed a pronounced fondness for Deltron spice wine, frequently consuming it during his time on Quasar's pleasure cruiser.
Tryll's sole appearance within the Star Wars Legends continuity occurred in Star Wars (1977) 24, penned by Mary Jo Duffy and released in 1979. Carmine Infantino provided the illustrations of Tryll.
