Mary Jo Duffy


Mary Jo Duffy is a writer of comic books, notably contributing to the Marvel Star Wars series. Her journey with Star Wars began with Silent Drifting. Later, she became the primary writer for the title, starting with Star Wars (1977) 70 and continuing until the series concluded. Duffy introduced several memorable characters to the series, including Dani, Rik Duel, Kiro, and resurrected Shira Brie as Lumiya.

Biography

Duffy began working at Marvel in an editorial capacity around late 1978/early 1979; her initial editorial credits are on The Incredible Hulk #231 and The Spectacular Spider-Man #26, both with cover dates of January 1979. She served as the editor for the first seventeen issues of Marvel's ROM comic book series, before passing the editorial duties to Allen Milgrom.

Beyond her Star Wars work, she also wrote for comic books such as Power Man and Iron Fist, Conan the Barbarian, and Wolverine. She is also credited with creating the Fallen Angels team, including most of its members.

During the 1990s, she contributed to other publishing houses, including DC Comics, where she authored the first fourteen issues of Catwoman (1993). For Rob Liefeld's Extreme Studios, an imprint of Image Comics, she penned all twenty-two issues of the original Glory comic book series, spanning from March 1995 to April 1997.
