Aurell, found within the Vorzyd sector of the Outer Rim Territories, in the Auratera system, was one of two stars alongside Ryern. This star was situated along the Salin Corridor hyperspace route and had three planets in orbit, including Auratera. Being the larger of the two system's stars, Aurell was the sole star the planets circled, even though Ryern still provided light to Auratera. Consequently, night on the planet only happened when Aurell fully eclipsed Ryern.
The temperature of Auratera was impacted by the changing closeness of Aurell and time to Ryern. There were periods when the two stars seemed to merge, leading to exceptionally bright and hot days, and other times when they were not visible in the sky simultaneously. Despite their changing nearness, Aurell was consistently brighter than Ryern, with Ryern never exceeding one-third of Aurell's luminosity.
The Star Wars Roleplaying sourcebook Nexus of Power, released in 2016 by Fantasy Flight Games for the Star Wars: Force and Destiny roleplaying game system, first mentioned Aurell.
