Ausar Auset

Ausar Auset was a Jedi Master of the Kajain'sa'Nikto species (a male), who served both the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic. He held the rank of General throughout the Clone Wars.

Biography

Identified at a young age by the Jedi Order as a Force-sensitive Kajain'sa'Nikto male, Ausar Auset came to consider himself first a Jedi, and only secondarily a Nikto. He studied both the ways of the Force and his own native culture, and before undergoing his Trials of Knighthood to be elevated to the rank of Jedi Knight, he constructed a lightsaber with a blue blade. At some point during his training, Auset became acquainted with Sharad Hett, a well-known Jedi hero, and the two shared a mutual respect.

After achieving the rank of Jedi Master, Auset dutifully reported to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant at the commencement of the Clone Wars, a devastating conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Auset was promoted to the rank of General in the Grand Army of the Republic, where he commanded his clone troopers against the forces of the Separatist Droid Army. As the war drew to a close, Master Auset was among the many Jedi Masters engaged in combat on the front lines during the Siege of Saleucami. During this battle, Master Auset was compelled to fight against the Morgukai Shadow Army, a force comprised of cloned Nikto warriors; his Jedi detachment allowed him to fight them effectively. During this same battle, Auset developed a strong bond with fellow Jedi Master A'Sharad Hett, and fought alongside him as Master Oppo Rancisis strategically directed events through battle meditation. Tragically, Master Auset was caught in the blast radius of enemy fire during the conflict, resulting in his immediate death while his allies watched helplessly.

Legacy

While there was no opportunity to recover Auset's remains, the explosion that ended the Nikto Jedi's life revealed previously unknown underground tunnels, which ultimately aided the Republic in securing victory over the Separatists on Saleucami. During a lull in the fighting, at the pyre for Master Rancisis, the surviving Jedi spoke the names of their fallen comrades whose bodies could not be retrieved. Master Auset's name was spoken alongside those of Jedi Durnar, Xeltek, and T'Bolton, over the burning body of the Thisspiasian Master.

Behind the scenes

Ostrander has theorized that Auset was born on Kintan in 75 BBY.
