This enabled the species to transform into a wider variety of beings, given that the saline concentration in a Clawdite's body directly influenced the size and weight of their altered forms. The possession of automated saline pumps was against the law, and they were traded on the black market for a price of 2,500 credits.
The initial reference to automated saline pumps occurred in No Disintegrations, a 2017 add-on for the Star Wars: Edge of the Empire roleplaying game that was released by Fantasy Flight Games.
