Avitla was a Jedi Padawan of the Human female persuasion. She was a member of the Jedi Order during the Cold War, a conflict fought between the Galactic Republic and its enemy, the Sith Empire.
Avitla, a Human with Force-sensitive abilities, underwent training in the Force under the auspices of the Jedi Order. After the conclusion of the Great Galactic War and the return of the Sith Empire, she resided on Tython, the Jedi's ancestral home, alongside the rest of the Order. While exploring the Tythonian Gnarls with fellow Padawans Mennaus and Jerridan in an attempt to complete their Trials of Knighthood, the group's progress was hampered when Flesh Raiders ambushed them, resulting in injuries to Jerridan. While she and Jerridan wanted to retaliate against the raiders for the assault, Mennaus emphasized the Jedi code, cautioning against giving in to strong emotions and violence.
