Azna, a planet found in the Outer Rim Territories, was situated within the Demetras sector. During the Galactic Civil War, it functioned as a pit stop along the famed Dahvil-Fodro Hyperspace Promenade, an interstellar race that attracted many onlookers in spite of the fact that racing was outlawed within the Azna system. On one such occasion, Siro Simito, a racer who was secretly working as an agent for the Rebel Alliance, and his rival Seeg both made a stop on Azna, where Siro Simito landed a punch on Seeg's face.
Located in the Outer Rim Territories within the Trans-Hydian region, Azna was a terrestrial planet that resided in the Azna system, which itself was part of the Demetras sector. It was positioned on a hyperlane that served as a connection to Tintel in the Expansion Region, and was situated at a distance of one day's travel in hyperspace with a Class 1 hyperdrive. From Fait d'Fait in the Mid Rim's, and the Outer Rim planet of Fodro, it was at least two days' travel.
During the Galactic Civil War, Azna was the last of the three mid-race stops along the Dahvil-Fodro Hyperspace Promenade, a well-known annual Star Rally interstellar racing circuit. This was despite the fact that these races were against the law in the Azna system at that time. Because of this, the racers would only stop on Azna to refuel and replenish their starships, departing as quickly as possible.

On one occasion, Siro Simito, a racer and secret agent for the Rebel Alliance, was given the task of delivering a data module from Dahvil in the Outer Rim Territories to a contact on Fait d'Fait. This all occurred while he was participating in the Dahvil-Fodro Hyperspace Promenade. Simito deliberately reduced the efficiency of his starship's hyperdrive during the initial legs of the race so that he would not raise suspicion later when he made a detour to Fait d'Fait from the hyperlane that connected Azna and Tintel. While Simito was visiting Fait d'Fait, the other racers proceeded directly to Azna, and Gevil Flan, a warehouse owner on Fait d'Fait, was also aware that this was the route Simito was supposedly taking.
Despite the fact that the Star Rally races were illegal on Azna, a large crowd gathered at the finish line. Seeg, Simito's rival, arrived on the planet two hours before him. However, Seeg became stranded on Azna while his ship's hyperdrive was being repaired due to a malfunction. Simito decided to settle his score with his rival when his ship was almost ready to depart, only needing refueling. He approached Seeg, who was speaking with a holovid reporter next to Pann Tefilous, the Star Rally promoter. After a brief exchange of insults, Simito punched Seeg in the face. Simito then left the scene, holding his signature vibro-axe above his head as the crowd cheered him on. Later, both Seeg and Simito departed Azna for Fodro. Sometime shortly after the Battle of Yavin, General Airen Cracken of the Rebel Alliance included Simito's report, which mentioned his visit to Azna during the Dahvil-Fodro Hyperspace Promenade, in a datafile that detailed various Rebel operatives.
Chuck Truett created Azna, and it was first introduced in Cracken's Rebel Operatives, a 1994 sourcebook from West End Games designed for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Azna system, and consequently the planet itself, in grid square P-6.
