B2-HA super battle droid

The B2-HA super battle droid, alternatively referred to as the heavy assault super battle droid, represented a specialized iteration of the B2 super battle droid. This variant was distinguished by its arm being equipped with a cannon, capable of launching either a warhead or a homing torpedo. The Confederacy of Independent Systems deployed these battle droids throughout the Clone Wars, sometimes assigning them roles as field officers. Notably, one such super battle droid commanded B1 battle droids during a mission to Rodia.

Characteristics

The B2-HA series super battle droid was identifiable by its cannon arm capable of launching a homing torpedo. A yellow symbol marked its left shoulder, serving as a visual identifier. Its cannon attachment allowed it to unleash substantial explosions, making it a significantly more dangerous opponent in direct combat. Their limited abilities as effective commanders meant they were typically assigned to lead smaller droid units or to protect strategically important locations on the battlefield. The B2-HA series also incorporated heat exchangers on their backs.

History

One B2-HA saw action during the First Battle of Geonosis in 22 BBY. In this battle, it shoved aside its own troops to engage a Republic All Terrain Tactical Enforcer. Clone trooper CT-1226 targeted its heat exchangers, causing the fired missile to instead strike a Hailfire Droid. Subsequently, CT-1226 used an Electromagnetic pulse grenade to disable the B2 and then destroyed the droid with his blaster.

Throughout the Hunt for the Decimator in 22 BBY, these heavy super battle droids were deployed.

Early in the Clone Wars, a B2-HA series super battle droid served in the battalion of forces commanded by Asajj Ventress, a Dark Acolyte and assassin under Count Dooku. As Supreme Leader of these Separatist droid forces, Ventress deployed them on the moon of Rugosa. Jedi Master Yoda destroyed this particular droid during the ensuing battle.

Shortly thereafter, a super battle droid of this type was utilized aboard the Malevolence. An OOM command battle droid instructed the battle droid to employ its cannon arm to eliminate a rail jet, nearly resulting in the death of Padmé Amidala.

On Rodia, another super battle droid directed droid forces within the Senatorial Palace. This droid launched a homing torpedo toward Jar Jar Binks, mistakenly identifying him as a Jedi. The Kwazel Maw, nicknamed "Bogey," destroyed this droid and its accompanying troops. During the transport of Nute Gunray aboard the Venator-class Star Destroyer, Tranquility, a B2-HA series super battle droid participated in a Separatist boarding action. This droid emerged from a Droch-class boarding ship alongside B2 super battle droids and utilized its cannon arm to clear a path through Republic defenses within the Tranquility's hangar.

A B2-HA series super battle droid functioned as a commander within Nashtah Team during Cad Bane's attack on the Republic outpost situated on the planet Devaron. Under the direction of Bounty hunter Aurra Sing, the droid assisted in preparing an ambush against the outpost. However, Republic forces breached a nearby dam, flooding the invading forces.

An advanced model, known as the B2 Assault, saw action during the Third battle of Felucia.

During the CIS occupation of Onderon, at least three B2-HA series super battle droids were present. One participated in a minor engagement between CIS droids and Onderon rebels outside the [capital](/article/capital-legends] city, Iziz, while the other two fought the same rebel group as they infiltrated Iziz to liberate it. The rebels destroyed all three droids. Onderon was eventually freed from Separatist control, and Count Dooku instructed General Kalani, the commander of CIS forces on the planet, to recover remaining arms, withdraw the army, and relocate them to the agriworld Agamar.

Behind the scenes

The real-time strategy game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds: Clone Campaigns includes a B2 variant called the "heavy super battle droid" with pink markings and a heavy cannon on its right arm. The game depicts the CIS forces.
