Bacca, often celebrated under the moniker of Great Bacca, was a male Wookiee hailing from Kashyyyk, existing some centuries before the era of the Old Sith Wars. His renown stemmed from his creation of a ceremonial sword, a blade that evolved into an emblem of leadership amongst his people. Long after his passing, Bacca's bloodline persisted through the family of Attichitcuk and his offspring, Chewbacca.
Hailing from Kashyyyk, the Wookiee male named Bacca first arrived into the world many centuries preceding the Old Sith Wars. He was a native of Rwookrrorro, the primary city and capital of the Wookiees. His given name translated to "ally" or "friend" in Shyriiwook, the Wookiee's primary tongue. At some point during his elder years, Bacca stumbled upon a wrecked starship while exploring the Shadowlands. This occasion marked the Wookiee's initial awareness of extraterrestrial life. Bacca salvaged metallic pieces from the wreckage, employing them to forge a vibroblade. This weapon, which later gained recognition as Bacca's Ceremonial Blade, transformed into a representation of Wookiee autonomy. Bacca himself ascended to the position of the first great Wookiee Chieftain.
Following Bacca's demise, his Ceremonial Blade was inherited by successive chieftains, serving as a symbol of their authority. At one juncture, Bacca's descendant Rothrrrawr launched a raid on the Shadowlands, intending to subdue a dangerous terentatek referred to as the Great Beast in a ritualistic battle. However, the ambitious warrior only succeeded in injuring the beast, leaving the blade's tip embedded in its hide. He escaped with only the blade's hilt, which continued to be passed down through the generations. Roughly a generation later, in 3956 BBY, Revan finally recovered the blade and reassembled it with its handle.
The name Bacca was also adopted by numerous Wookiees in subsequent generations, signifying their descent from his esteemed lineage. These individuals included members of Attichitcuk's family such as Chewbacca and his nephew Lowbacca, as well as others such as Kybacca and Weebacca.
