While there, he became the target of Garik Loran, a pilot affiliated with the New Republic commando group called Wraith Squadron, who exploited the navigator's susceptibility to intoxication. Loran deliberately made the navigator inebriated and extracted the secret to the Corellian freighter Barderia's ability to evade pirates during its travels. Subsequently, Loran duplicated all the data present on the navigator's datapad onto his own device, ensuring the navigator safely returned to his vessel after their drinking session concluded.
Loran encountered the navigator again, posing as General Kargin, when the Hawk-bat Independent Space Force—actually Wraith Squadron in disguise—assaulted and subsequently boarded the Barderia while it was engaged in a trading voyage.
