Barrager
The Barrager's main laboratory
During the Great Galactic War, a superweapon known as the Barrager was under construction at the Balmorran Arms Factory located on Balmorra. This project was spearheaded by Doctor Otak'or Meln together with Doctor Ortis within the Barrager Laboratory. The Barrager, envisioned as a network of powerful planetary turbolasers, was designed to tap into the planet's vast energy reserves to obliterate enemy fleets in orbit, thereby preventing orbital bombardment. However, its development was interrupted when the Sith Empire launched an invasion and seized control of Balmorra. Later, during the Galactic War, the Sith Lord Darth Minax attempted to force Doctor Carsiri and other scientists to complete the weapon's construction. Nevertheless, a successful operation led by Commander Cassius Madine of the Galactic Republic resulted in the Republic gaining control of the Barrager. Despite this victory, Carsiri warned the Republic team that activating the Barrager would completely deplete Balmorra's power grid, turning the planet into a barren wasteland, and strongly recommended its destruction.
Behind the scenes
The destiny of the Barrager offers two divergent paths: The "light side" choice involves its destruction, requiring the player(s) to escape the laboratory, while the "dark side" option entails preserving it. Should the latter path be chosen, an in-game communication will notify the player(s) that modifications are underway to enhance the Barrager's energy efficiency.
