Following the demise of the original Death Star, Darth Vader initiated the clandestine development of a new, formidable weapon for the Galactic Empire. Simultaneously, within the ranks of the Rebel Alliance, whispers began to circulate concerning so-called "ghost ships" ambushing Rebel patrols.
In the vicinity of Dreighton, the YT-1300 light freighter known as the Corellia Star was assailed by TIE Fighters, prompting a distress signal to be dispatched to Rebel pilots Kirby and his wingman, Rookie One. The pilot asserted that they possessed vital intelligence regarding the Galactic Empire's clandestine project.
The transmission was abruptly cut short when Imperial forces boarded the freighter. Subsequently, the two Rebel pilots detected a swarm of TIE fighters approaching them on their sensors. After repelling the initial waves, the pair prepared to approach the planet, only to be met with laser fire that seemed to materialize out of thin air. The initial barrage severed one of Rookie One's wings, causing his fighter to lose control. As his B-wing spiraled helplessly toward the planet's surface, Kirby's fighter was also downed by laser fire. Rookie One, however, successfully deployed his pilot pod and found himself stranded on Dreighton.
Rookie One makes his escape from the Imperial mining base aboard the Corellia Star.
Left without any viable means of leaving the planet, Rookie One employed his portable scanner to locate the freighter. His search led him to an Imperial facility, where he engaged in combat, ultimately reaching the Corellia Star and eliminating the stormtroopers guarding the vessel. He managed to escape the base by navigating through a series of mining tunnels, subsequently delivering the ship to the Alliance Fleet.
The Alliance discovered a secret Imperial mining operation located within the Belt of Arah by examining the Corellia Star's data logs. Subsequently, a squadron of X-wings was dispatched to obliterate the facility.
