The conflict known as the Battle of Anoth transpired on the isolated, mountainous world of Anoth. This clash occurred in 11 ABY and pitted the forces of the New Republic against a surviving faction of the Galactic Empire, commanded by Furgan from Carida. This particular battle was part of a larger series of Imperial operations aimed at abducting the offspring of Han Solo and Leia Organa Solo, specifically Anakin Solo, their youngest child.
As the New Republic began experiencing internal discord following the absence of both Admiral Gial Ackbar and Chief of State Mon Mothma, the Imperial Ambassador Furgan of Carida initiated the second phase of his scheme: capturing the Force-sensitive Anakin Solo.
The only Force-sensitive individuals he was aware of included Luke Skywalker, his apprentices, Leia Organa Solo, and her children. Realizing the difficulty of influencing Skywalker, his students, or Organa Solo due to their adulthood, he opted to concentrate on kidnapping Organa Solo's children. His primary target was Anakin Solo, who was still an infant at the time.
Unlike his siblings, who resided on Coruscant, Anakin remained on Anoth, under the protection of Winter, a childhood friend and aide to Organa Solo. Although Furgan was initially unaware of Anoth's exact location, he anticipated the terrain his forces would face once the planet was located and a kidnapping mission commenced. Consequently, he commissioned the development and production of the spidery MT-AT on Carida, specifically tailored for Anoth's mountainous environment.
When Ackbar departed Coruscant for his aquatic homeworld of Mon Calamari, Furgan set his plans in motion by diverting to the hidden planet. Unbeknownst to Ackbar, Furgan's agent, Terpfen, had planted a tracking device on Ackbar's ship. Upon receiving Anoth's coordinates, Terpfen transmitted them to Ambassador Furgan. Furgan promptly loaded Carida's sole capital ship, the Dreadnaught-class heavy cruiser Vendetta, with MT-ATs and stormtroopers who had graduated from the Imperial Military Academy. His departure aboard the Dreadnaught was hastened when Kyp Durron, wielding the Sun Crusher superweapon and influenced by the spirit of the ancient Sith Lord Exar Kun, launched a resonance torpedo into Carida's sun. The Vendetta set course for Anoth, entering hyperspace shortly before Carida's sun detonated.
Upon the Vendetta's arrival in Anoth's orbit, Furgan resolved to personally oversee Anakin Solo's abduction. He descended from orbit within one of the MT-ATs, accompanied by a reluctant stormtrooper sergeant who endured Furgan's terrified screams in silence.

Once deployed on the surface, the eight MT-ATs emerged from their deployment pods, utilizing their blaster cannons to search for vulnerabilities in the stronghold's defenses. They eventually located a pair of heavy blast doors and began advancing towards them. As they tested the blast doors' strength, one of the fortress's defense mechanisms—the Foreign Intruder Defense Organism (FIDO)—destroyed four of the MT-ATs before succumbing to the remaining spider walkers' fire.
With the initial threat eliminated, the MT-ATs resumed their assault on the blast doors. A fissure gradually formed, and one of the MT-ATs employed its front claws to tear open the remnants of the blast doors, allowing them to enter the interior chamber. After several minutes and numerous stormtrooper casualties, Furgan finally located Anakin Solo under the care of a modified TDL nanny droid that protested Furgan's intention to kidnap Anakin. Furgan dismissed the droid and instructed the accompanying stormtrooper to retrieve the infant. However, the nanny droid swiftly eliminated the stormtrooper with its four concealed blaster cannons. Despite his status as an ambassador, Furgan's reflexes were sharp enough to destroy the nanny droid before it could harm him. He then encountered the recently reinstated Ackbar, Organa Solo, and Terpfen, who had been freed from Furgan's mental manipulation. He held Anakin aloft, threatening to break the baby's neck.
Furgan subsequently collided with a power droid, followed by Terpfen, who seized Anakin and returned him to Organa Solo. Seizing the opportunity, Furgan fled towards the entrance where the MT-ATs were stationed. Terpfen pursued him, seeking vengeance. Furgan scrambled into one of the awaiting MT-ATs, while Terpfen commandeered another. A running gunfight ensued between the two MT-ATs, escalating into a physical confrontation between the walkers. The battle culminated with Furgan's walker plunging over a cliff. This marked the end of Furgan's life, neutralizing a threat to the New Republic.
