Battle of Hurrim Base

The Battle of Hurrim Base was an armed engagement occurring in 4 ABY that involved the Galactic Empire, the Hurrim, and the Alliance to Restore the Republic. This battle culminated in the total annihilation of both the Corrupter and Hurrim Base.

Lead-up to the Conflict

In the months leading up to the Battle of Endor, the Hurrim were expelled from Dunari's expansive trading network after they launched an unprovoked assault on a civilian convoy that the Rebel Alliance happened to be in the process of raiding. The Hurrim retaliated by seizing numerous members of Dunari's staff and holding them captive within the confines of Hurrim Base. Furthermore, they commandeered several Alliance cargo ships, including six MB-C1 medium transports operating under the collective banner of Vemmer. The Hurrim's prior, yet deceitful, alliance with the Rebels threatened to turn galactic sentiment against the Rebel Alliance, thus motivating the Rebels and Dunari to unite in their resolve to eliminate the Hurrim before they could inflict any further damage.

The Clash

Before being discovered by Dunari and Alliance Intelligence situated within a remote asteroid field in deep space, the location of the Hurrim Base remained concealed from Rebel reconnaissance, which then precipitated a large-scale assault upon the station.

The Rebel Nebulon-B frigate Jericho, accompanied by a substantial force of Alliance starfighters including Ace Azzameen, launched an assault on Hurrim Base, systematically dismantling its defenses, which included starfighters, stationary weapons, and capital ships. The Hurrim Base's defenses consisted of waves of Preybird-class starfighters, Asteroid Laser Batteries, Asteroid Warhead Launchers, and a pair of Marauder-class corvettes named Broadside and Plank. Despite the formidable defenses, the Rebels swiftly neutralized all of these vessels and the majority of the starfighters, incurring minimal casualties in the process. Subsequently, Alliance B-wings disabled the Hurrim Base, and several transports designated Storm Unit boarded both the platform and the captured Alliance transports. They reactivated the captured transports, successfully rescuing all of Dunari's staff, and then evacuated to the safety of the Jericho.

However, Imperial Admiral Garreth Holtz then arrived aboard the Imperial-class Star Destroyer Corrupter with the intention of repelling the Rebel attack and coming to the aid of their Hurrim allies. Dunari's forces arrived aboard the Dreadnaught Longshot, and together, the Rebels and Dunari successfully destroyed the Corrupter, resulting in the presumed demise of Admiral Holtz. Following this, the Alliance took Golov Nakhym into custody as he attempted to flee aboard the shuttle Lendros.

After the successful rescue of the hostages, the now-defenseless Hurrim Base was completely destroyed, bringing an end to the Hurrim's treacherous actions.

Repercussions

The annihilation of Hurrim Base effectively eradicated the Hurrim, causing the remaining elements of the pirate group to fade into obscurity. The loss of the Corrupter and its commanding officer, Admiral Holtz, represented an embarrassing setback for the Galactic Empire. The successful outcome of the battle secured the stability of the fragile alliance between Dunari and the Rebels, while also restoring confidence in the Alliance throughout the galaxy. The destruction of the Hurrim ensured that the cargo agreement between Dunari and the Rebels could resume without further disruption, thereby bolstering the Alliance's preparedness for the impending conflict at Endor.
