The Corrupter, an Imperial II-class Star Destroyer, functioned as the command ship for Imperial Admiral Garreth Holtz and his Corrupter Task Force throughout the Galactic Civil War.
Not long after the Battle of Hoth, the Corrupter spearheaded an assault on a Rebel medical station, which housed wounded soldiers from the battle. The Azzameen family was present, delivering illicit bacta via the transport named Vasudra. While the majority of Rebel ships managed to flee, both the station and the Vasudra were destroyed. Subsequently, the Corrupter led Imperial forces in the seizure of Twin Suns Transport Services, working alongside Viraxo Industries.
The mission of the Corrupter was to locate the Defiance and its associated task force. However, due to superior Rebel intelligence, the Rebels were able to track and harass the Corrupter and its escort vessels. While struggling to pinpoint the Rebel ships, Alliance starfighters successfully destroyed several vital supply convoys, including a critical resupply operation intended for the Corrupter itself. Left stranded with damaged engines, the Corrupter could not prevent the Defiance Task Force from escaping the Anoat sector.
As a consequence of this failure, Admiral Holtz received a punitive assignment to Outer Rim patrol duties. While trying to suppress piracy, the Corrupter once more clashed with Rebel forces. Acting on information from the Hurrim, the Corrupter disrupted a partnership between the Rebels and a smuggling ring, and also seized a space-based casino called Dunari's Rest belonging to the businessman Dunari.
The Corrupter was ultimately destroyed during the Battle of Hurrim Base, while attempting to thwart a Rebel counterattack against the Hurrim. This event marked the end of the ship's persistent harassment of the Rebels and their allies.
The narrative of the Corrupter is contingent on the player completing any optional objectives that involve the ship.
During the Battle of Bettel (mission 1:6), the player has the option to try and destroy the Corrupter. However, because the plot requires the ship to reappear later, if the player manages to deplete the Corrupter's shields, TIE Avengers from Avenger Squadron will arrive. These fighters are equipped with Concussion missiles and are difficult to defeat, ensuring the Corrupter's survival and maintaining story continuity.
