Garreth Holtz was a Human male Admiral within the Imperial Navy during the era of the Galactic Civil War.
During the Galactic Civil War, Garreth Holtz was in command of the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer known as the Corrupter. The Battle of Hoth saw his ship take part, where it suffered significant damage from the Rebel planetary ion cannon. Despite the absence of its sensor dome, Holtz subsequently led the vessel on various missions for the Galactic Empire, which included the destruction of a Rebel medical facility and the capture of Twin Suns Transport Services.
Following this, he received orders to locate the Alliance fleet led by the Mon Calamari Star Cruiser called the Defiance. As a consequence of his failure to eliminate the Defiance task force, Holtz was reassigned to oversee and suppress pirate operations in the Outer Rim Territories as a form of punishment.
During this period, he once again encountered Rebel activity when he disrupted a meeting between the Alliance and a smuggler, during which the Alliance was establishing a crucial trade and supply agreement with the smuggler Dunari in anticipation of the eventual Battle of Endor. Although the initial trap set by Holtz failed, information provided by the Hurrim, a pirate group formerly associated with Dunari, alerted him to the deal, leading him to attack and then occupy Dunari's Casino.
After a lengthy period of conflict, Dunari and the Alliance launched an assault directly on the Hurrim, prompting Holtz and his forces to intervene to prevent this. With a vow to destroy the Rebel forces, Holtz and the Corrupter moved to defend the Hurrim installation, but the Alliance, aided by Dunari, launched a counterattack. After Holtz's forces were defeated by the Alliance, the Admiral conceded that they would not win, but shortly thereafter, the Rebels finally destroyed the Corrupter, bringing an end to Holtz's unsuccessful career and his life.
